Nerds and MozCon 2013

“Nerds!“ – I woke up in a cold sweat.

Ogre? Really? It’s 3:45 AM and I woke up to the thought of Ogre from Revenge of the Nerds yelling at the top of his lungs from his frat house at my friend Todd and I as we walked through the door to MozCon 2013.

Can this be happening?

Well, no.

But I do think of Ogre when I tell people how excited I am to be attending this years MozCon – a gathering of SEOs, SEMs, inbound marketers, and internet strategists. Yes, I am that guy.

I’m excited to meet and talk shop with some of the best minds in the business for four days in Seattle. There will be reps from Google and some of the largest marketing firms around in attendance. This is the place to be if you’re in the internet strategy game.

As I’ve started connecting with other attendees through Facebook, Google+, and other community forums, I’ve learned that most are highly educated entrepreneurs from all over the world who are coming together to share ideas and make new connections. This is a chance for those of us that spend a lot of time from behind a computer helping businesses grow to push the keyboard aside, at least for a moment, and talk face-to-face. My guess is that a beer or two will be consumed in the process.

For a guy that’s spent his entire adult life in the sports and fitness field, I can say that as I step through the doors at MozCon, if I hear someone yell “Nerds!”, I’ll walk through proudly knowing that I’m amongst some of the best minds in the world… and that I could still take Ogre and his frat boys down in a game any day.
