Coaching and mentoring allows me to look inside the lives of successful business professionals.
Not always, but usually, when they have been successful in business, they have done so by sacrificing their relationships and/or their health.
Even with my background in health and fitness, I did this too.
It’s an easy trap to fall into. One day you look in the mirror, or at your partner, and realize that something slipped through the cracks along the way… and worse… you don’t know how to get it back.
For most owners, they turn even more towards their business, which got them into this mess in the first place. They’ll typically sprinkle in some self-destructive behavior such as drugs, excessive alcohol, or one night stands. Oh, and when I say “sprinkle,” I really mean they dive right in head first.
Of course, everyone is different, and each person I work with is on their own journey, but there is always a pattern – sacrifice.
The sacrifice of self, the sacrifice of health, the sacrifice of the soul, and the sacrifice of relationships.
By the time I talk to them, they aren’t broken, but they are lost and confused. The cards they’ve held so close to their chest aren’t working anymore.
What if there was another way? (hint – there is)
What would that look like?
What would your day look like if you didn’t have to sacrifice yourself… or something else?
How much more joy would you have? How much more joy would you be able to bring to the world through your work?
Do you think you’d be even more productive if you were happy and fulfilled?
These are serious questions worth pondering. Yes, they will take a little time to answer, and yes, they might not be comfortable to think about at first if you get raw, but the rewards will be clarity, and with clarity, you can make choices rather than drift through life.
You’ve got one shot at this game we call life – it’s time to step away from average and step into a life that fills your soul.
