Rarely is this question asked this way, but today it was and the conversation continued for over an hour. I’ll do my best here to break down some of the basics.

First, it’s important to understand that on the opposite side of scarcity is abundance and gratitude.

This is important to realize because when in a state of abundance or being grateful, you can’t be in a state of scarcity.

Second, it’s good to know a little about neuroscience. To keep this short, the things you do repeatedly, including your thoughts, form stronger synaptic pathways. Said another way, the more you do something (or think something) the more ingrained that pattern becomes for you.

So, if you’re always thinking about scarcity and lack, then that’s probably your default. It becomes easier for you and more natural over time.

Time to break the pattern.

Just like working out, the trick here is getting your reps done consistently. Over time, you’ll form newer and stronger neural pathways – pathways that support you rather than hurt you.

The top two recommendations I give to people are:

1. Start a gratitude practice. Sounds simple enough, and it is, but the way you do it does matter. More on this another time. For now, simply list 10 things you’re grateful for and why you’re grateful for them.

2. Find evidence for abundance. It’s time to put on your detective hat and go in search of the abundance all around you. Write down at least 10 pieces of “evidence”.

Repeat the above steps daily for 30 days (ideally longer).

While you’re at it, find a few pieces of evidence as to why you’re amazing… because you are.

Now go get me my evidence! ????
